Kooralbyn,S.E. Queensland,
Australia.
Kooralbyn businesses assisting local business.
Welcome to the Kooralbyn Valley Chamber of
Commerce's website. We are affiliated with the Queensland Chamber
of Commerce & Industry, and our role is to encourage and
promote local business in this special part of the Gold Coast
hinterland, known as The Scenic Rim.
Kooralbyn is situated approximately midway between Beaudesert and
Rathdowney on the Mt. Lindesay Highway 13, about a 1 hour drive
from both the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and we have a lifestyle
that is the envy of most. We enjoy the peace and tranquility of a
scenic rural setting while being so close to the major business
and population growth centres of Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Overseas visitors hear about Australia, where kangaroos hop down
the main street: well, our Kooralbyn is the town where that
happens. Our business community is a little different to most
Chambers, in that the majority of our local business people are
involved in home-based business, with a small, but expanding CBD
of a rural township character. Rarely does such a unique
opportunity exist, where business can have daily interaction with
many worlds: the natural landscape and the large variety of
wildlife in it, while being involved in the world of e-commerce
or other business-to-business transactions. Kooralbyn is a unique lifestyle in S.E.
Queensland.
Kooralbyn today is a rapidly growing centre that began
in the 1840s as a pastoral holding, until the 1970s, when it was sold
to become a rural residential resort, based around a championship golf
course. It has since developed into becoming a growing, thriving community,
supporting a variety of businesses, services, and trades. In 1998, a Chamber
of Commerce was formed, with a goal of assisting a growing business population
that was residing in Kooralbyn to thrive and prosper, so that the community
as a whole, could benefit from a healthy business community in their midst.

Part of our Chamber's objectives is to bring about the Kooralbyn-Boonah
Tourist link Road, making Kooralbyn a more sustainable location for business
and employment. This chamber is a member of the Kooralbyn-Boonah Link
Road Steering Committee, which consists of three Chambers
of Commerce ( Kooralbyn, Boonah and Beaudesert ) and has two Scenic Rim
Divisional Councillors ( Crs. Cockburn & Wehl ). The Chairman is Dave
Poulgrain, and we meet in the SRRC Meeting Room.
The Steering Committee has recently set up a Facebook
page for the road, and we everyone to visit and become a
fan, and ask your family and friends to also
become fans. There are also photos, a presentation, and a discussion page,
where you can put up your thoughts, as well. The address is:

so give your support to this worthwhile and rewarding
project. Get to know what is envisioned, and how it will benefit
the whole region. The more numbers we have, the bigger our voice.
On the menu buttons to the left, also, we
have a page of two maps; one to show where in the S.E. Queensland area
Kooralbyn is in relation to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and the other
to show the street layouts and business locations of Kooralbyn.
By using these buttons you can easily locate that local
retailer, service or trade that will meet your needs.
We encourage all of those who have businesses
based around Kooralbyn to become financial members of the Kooralbyn Valley
Chamber of Commerce, and enjoy the benefits that come from:
* Having regular access to
your Local Government representative,
* Having a voice in your local business
environment,
* Gaining from others' experiences and advice,
* Networking with other business
people.
Monthly Meetings
are held in Kooralbyn Community Hall
