Our Current Chamber Projects
- Kooralbyn-Boonah Tourist Road. This is a sub-Committee is being chaired by Peter McKenna, with the goal of promoting the construction of the tourist road from Kooralbyn to Boonah. This road has been gazetted and forms a part of the Whole of Shire Plan, and highlights the spectacular 360º views not available elsewhere. This sub-Committee is aiming to bring forward the construction and opening of this tourist road, which will give local business the opportunity to expand, as well as enabling better ambulance and fire emergency services for Kooralbyn. The closure of the Kooralbyn Resort has made this matter of utmost urgency, as we currently have no reason for tourists (which is Kooralbyn's reason for being) to depart the Mt. Lindesay Highway. Other members of the subcommittee are Dave Poulgrain, John Noonan and Mark Somerset.
Part of our Chamber's objectives is to bring about the Kooralbyn-Boonah Tourist link Road, making Kooralbyn a more sustainable location for business and employment. This chamber is a member of the Kooralbyn-Boonah Link Road Steering Committee, which consists of three Chambers of Commerce (Kooralbyn, Boonah and Beaudesert) and has two Scenic Rim Divisional Councillors (Crs. Cockburn & Wehl). The Chairman is Dave Poulgrain, and we meet in the SRRC Meeting Room. The Steering Committee has recently set up a Facebook page for the road, and we encourage everyone to visit and become a fan, and also ask your family and friends to become fans. There are also photos, a presentation, and a discussion page, where you can put up your thoughts, as well. Click this link to give your support to this worthwhile and rewarding project. Get to know what is envisioned, and how it will benefit the whole region. The more numbers we have, the bigger our voice.
- Telephone book based advertising. We are in the process of getting out to all homes in Kooralbyn, a telephone book jacket that informs Kooralbyn residents of Kooralbyn trades and services. Because of the current economic environment, a strong case for 'use them or lose them' can be made.
- Kooralbyn Tourism Brochure. This is to produce a draft brochure for distribution at the Beaudesert, Rathdowney and Canungra Information Offices, to encourage tourists to visit Kooralbyn and enjoy what we uniquely have to offer.
Currently put on hold pending the outcome of the Kooralbyn resort sale.
